STUDIO POLICIES 2020-2021 SEASON

 GENERAL – Office Hours:        Monday through Thursday   4:00 – 7:00 p.m.

 The studio will be closed for the following holidays: Sept. 7 (Labor Day), November 23-28 (Thanksgiving),
December 17 – January 2 (Christmas), March 15-20 (Spring Break), April 4 (Easter), & May 31 (Memorial Day)

 

TUITION AND FEES – Registration fee (non-refundable):         $35.00 – one student        $45.00 – family

Please note:  Registration fee plus two and ½ months of tuition is due upon registration and enrollment.  Tuition covers ½ month for August, 1 full month for September and May.

Tuition rates are based on the entire term, August through May.  When you enroll, you are considered enrolled for the full term and receive a discounted class rate accordingly.  Though the actual number of classes may vary each month, total tuition for the term is divided into equal monthly payments. The registration fee, August and September tuition are non-refundable.  The pre-paid May tuition is non-refundable 30 days after enrollment.

Tuition is due on the first lesson of each month.  A late fee of $10.00 will be charged if payment is not received by the 10th of the month.  Please mail your check if you are unable to personally submit a timely payment.  We do not mail statements.  If you are billed, it indicates that you are late with your payment, and YOU ARE EXPECTED TO PAY A $10.00

LATE FEE. We accept cash, checks, MasterCard, Visa, American Express, or Discover.  You may also fill out a credit card authorization form and monthly tuition will be automatically charged each month.

A $20.00 fee will be charged for each returned check.

 

Costume fees:  Recital costume fees range from approximately $70 – $85 per costume.  Costume orders and a $70 deposit per costume will be due no later than November 16th.  For your convenience, you may make payments towards costumes throughout the fall semester.  There will be a $10 per costume late fee for all costumes ordered after November 16th.  There will be no refunds once costumes have been ordered.

 

Performance fees:  Fort Bend Academy of Dance provides your student with the opportunity to perform in a professional quality production at the end of each year.  Performance fees cover rental of the theater, prop and set costs, and technical expenses.  Participation is required for pre-professional division students.  Performance fees are $75 per student or $95 for families with multiple students, and include tickets (4 per student/6 for families) to the performance.   Performance fees are non-refundable and due no later than March 7th.

 

Withdrawal: If you choose to discontinue classes, you must file written notification with our office 30 days prior to withdrawal to protect your discounted class rate.  Tuition will continue to accrue until proper notification is received.  Notification by phone or email is not acceptable.  There will be no refunds or pro-ration of tuition upon withdrawal.  Any leave of absence (unless mandated by a physician) will be considered a withdrawal and will require payment of additional registration fee upon return.

 

If you wish to add or drop a class during the year, you must submit a class change form to the office.

 

ATTIRE: Dress codes will be strictly enforced.

  1. Students without proper attire and hair will not be permitted to take class.
  2. Buns need to be secured with either a bun cover or hair net covering the bun.
  3. Students not dressed in proper class colored leotard will need to borrow a “LOANER” leotard from the studio office before entering class.

  1. Ballet/Pointe (Females): Colored leotard as designated for your level, pink tights, pink shoes, hair in a bun
  2. Ballet/Jazz/Tap (Males): Black tights, bike shorts or jazz pants, white t-shirt, Dance belt, black ballet/jazz/tap shoes
  3. Jazz: Black leotard or class color leotard, black tights or jazz pants, black split sole shoes, hair pulled away from face and secured to head
  4. Tap: Ballet or Jazz attire, black flat tap shoes (jazz taps for older students), hair pulled away from face and secured to head
  5. Pre-school Ballet/tap: Pink leotard (solid, no skirt, no ruffles), pink tights, pink ballet shoes, black tap shoes, hair in a bun
  6. No jewelry, panties, legwarmers, ballet skirts, large shirts or street clothes will be allowed in class.

 

ATTENDANCE AND TARDINESS: Regular attendance is essential to a dancer’s progress and success.  There is no refund or tuition adjustment for missed classes.  Missed classes may be made up within 30 days if there is an available class of appropriate age and ability.  Up to four make-up classes will be allowed for the term.  Please schedule all make-ups through the office.  There will be no make-up classes in May.

Pre-professional division classes (levels 6, 7, and 8) are subject to periodic change and/or cancellation.

Late arrivals distract students and disturb the continuity of the class.  If you are late, please enter the studio quietly with as little disturbance as possible.   Any student arriving more than 10 minutes late may be required to observe class.

Students should be picked up promptly after class.  Students must wait inside the studio, not outside!  We are not responsible for students once they leave the studio.

 

CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT: Dance is fun!  However, classroom discipline is an integral part of successful training.  Classes will be taught in a positive, encouraging environment designed to build confidence and self-esteem.  Students are expected to exhibit appropriate behavior during class and show respect for both teachers and fellow dancers.

 

LOBBY: No food, drinks, gum or candy allowed in the studio or the lobby.  This applies to dancers, siblings and parents.  We want you to be able to watch your child take class.  We ask that you be considerate of others and minimize any distraction both for students and other parents.  Please do not wave to or try to communicate with your child through the studio windows.  Small children must be supervised at all times.

 

AGREEMENT: I will not hold Fort Bend Academy of Dance or any of its agents, employees, or representatives liable for any illnesses contracted or injuries sustained by me while a student at the academy.

 

VERY IMPORTANT: Your copy of the studio policy should be kept in a safe place for your reference.  Everyone is expected to abide by the policies without exception.
